Event Honors Industry Leaders, Showcases Exceptional Student Designers
and Features a Special Fashion Show
DETROIT, Mich., Jan. 5, 2015 – The 2015 MotorCity Automotive Industry Night (MAIN) Event kicks off the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) festivities on Sunday Jan. 11 at Orchestra Hall/Max M. Fisher Music Center (3711 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48201). This invitation-only event, with emcee Huel Perkins, recognizes and honors automotive industry executives, showcases student’s automotive-design work, and features Detroit fashion directed by Detroit Fashion Week and Michigan Garment Council. Special thanks to The Ford Motor Company, Dassault Systemes, Lawrence Technological University, Inteva Products, and Pure Michigan .
MAIN Event Design Awards have become a coveted symbol of achievement. This year there will be three awards presented: Industry Innovator of the Year Award, Global Industry Executive of the Year Award and the Digital Concept and Excellence Award. The 2015 award recipients are Ford Motor Company President and CEO Mark Fields, as the event’s Global Industry Executive of the Year and Chrysler Group Vice President of Interior Design, Klaus Busse, as the Industry Innovator of the Year. The Digital Concept and Excellence Award winner will be announced at the event from one of the following finalists: the Chevy ZR2, the Chevy Chaparral and the Mustang GT350. All award recipients were selected by the Executive Committee of MAIN Event which includes executive representatives from Dassault Systemes, Chrysler Group LLC, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Bunkspeed, OPTIS World and INTEVA Products.
The event also includes the Next Generation of Design Innovation award, sponsored by Dassault Systemes and the Designing for the Future competitions sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund and Lawrence Technological University. Winners will be announced at the MAIN Event in front of industry leading designers and executives from around the world attending the NAIAS.
“It is evident by the large number of incredible award submissions we receive, these creative individuals and design teams are inspired by the world around them,” said Keith Nagara, executive committee chairman. “We find that all our designers – from the seasoned industry executives to the creative young minds to our fashion designers – pride themselves on the form and function of their designs. We are pleased to be able to recognize such a diverse and unique group of honorees.”
MAIN Event’s annual fashion exhibition highlights: Cynthia LaMaide, Randal Jacobs, Ashley Harris, Matthew Richmond, Leslie Ann Pilling, Emily Prchlik and Matthew Pozsgay. The show will feature a “Tread to Threads” competition sponsored by Inteva Products. Special features will also include Fashion Inspired by Auto Design, Automotive Tribute Looks and an all new Mobilegear (Jet Pack) runway presentation.
Other event highlights include the North American debut of the Lincoln MKX concept, as well as culinary creations from Sweet Lorraine’s, Mac ‘N’ Cheez, Marchiori Catering, Dinner Club Pop Up, Eskimo Jack’s, Cake Crumbs and The Roasting Plant Detroit.
